So the reason for the delay in updating this is that I have sadly run into some mild computer troubles... And by mild I mean that my computer doesn't turn on at all :) haha... This being said, I think I will be sending my computer back with Kourtney after she comes to visit me, so that best buy can fix it in the states, and then i'll have my mom ship it back across the pacific to me here once it is fixed...
... so to fill everyone in on what has been happening here... well - the honest answer to that is- not much... haha. Last week was a week of orientation. Being a "Fresher" i was forced to wear a purple baby bib around all week that had my name on it. Along with this we were woken up at 4 AM on wednesday night and forced to march around campus to the other halls and sing our battle cry to wake all of them up haha- I was smarter than most people however and just rolled over and fell back asleep without really realizing why they were playing loud music and pounding on everyone's doors. The one thing I have realized is that Australian's are crazy people who work hard and party harder- they don't seem to ever give it a break- haha. I've been getting more used to their high prices, and lazy mentality though. I am debating getting a job over here so that i will have a consistant flow of australian currency and some money to spend on food and fun. finding a job will be the biggest problem though- but when i do it will be nice - as they pay like 18 bucks an hour for very basic food service jobs.
I just finished my first week of classes- which was quite an experience in itself. Their system for picking classes is confusing and not efficient, and to explain it to you all, would only confuse everyone of you- so just take my word for it haha- it wasn't a fun experience... Several of my classes clashed timewise- and so i am now no longer taking Australian History. Instead I swapped a class called Bach to Beatles in its place. It is a basic level history of music class that sounds like it will be interesting. This means that my schedule ended up being Functional Biology of Marine Organisms, Sociology, Bach to Beatles, and Children's Lit. The classes all appear to be fairly fun- the worst one looks like it might be sociology... I wish i was back in the states when it comes to these classes though- every single one of them has a final that is worth somewhere around 60% of my overall grade- with the other 40% coming from a big paper... that is pretty intense... and something i'm not totally used to- even in minnesota... I am looking foreward to having kourtney come visit... i haven't had a ton of time to explore the city myself, so me and her are going to have to do exploring together :) Other than that i really haven't done much that is worthy of writing about... I am slowly learning how to work around my computer troubles, and jenni is having to be patient as talking on skype is no longer an option :( Just yesterday while talking with some of my friends i described something as being 2 meters away- haha- as soon as i said it we all stopped walking and laughed at the fact that I am already using their measurements haha- I also have been catching myself saying cheers to people more and more :)
All in all- i am enjoying myself down here, and I am rolling with the punches. I am hoping on catching a bus to a church here on sunday afternoon. From what I heard is that its a pretty cool place. I didn't go last weekend since all the american's (sepo's) went just for the free food they were offering- as they were talking about going they kept laughing at religion and how they just wanted the food- the idea of being associated with that forced me to decide to wait a week and go see the church in a better light on my own terms :)
There has been a request to post an australian joke on here... And as soon as i read that request I laughed to myself... since aussie's have a pretty twisted sense of humor and they make jokes about just about anything... some of their favorites at the moment are along the lines of...
What is black, white, and hungry?...
...
...
Heath Ledger's Cat....
with that- i am off to enjoy the sun and my friday afternoon :)
Cheers everyone ;)
